A Reserva Federal

Mini-série em cinco capítulos sobre a Reserva Federal, o banco central norte-americano, responsável pela emissão do dólar.

Após ter assinado o Federal Reserve Act em 1913, o tratado que permitiu a criação deste banco, o presidente 28º norte-americano, Woodrow Wilson, disse:

"A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated governments in the civilized world. No longer a government by free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men."

Este documentário defende que a Reserva Federal, estando sob o controle de interesses privados, é responsável pelo endividamento do governo norte-americano (e dos contribuintes, através do IRS), tornando-o refém dos juros cobrados sobre o empréstimo da moeda impressa.

Sobre o perigo dos bancos privados poderem controlar a moeda, Thomas Jefferson, o 3º presidente norte-americano avisou:

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."

Assim se compreende que, do ponto de vista deste documentário, existe uma motivação para a participação dos Estados Unidos em grandes conflitos militares - da Primeira Guerra Mundial até ao 11 de Setembro -, e para o prolongamento destes conflitos durante o maior tempo possível: a guerra exige enormes quantidades de dinheiro, e a Reserva Federal pode imprimir todo o dinheiro necessário para o governo.
